AP cabinet defers decision on 3 capital cities

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Friday deferred taking a decision on the G N Rao committee’s proposal to set up three capital cities. Minister for information and public relations Perni Venkatramaian (Nani) said the government would appoint a high-level committee to study the proposals of G N Rao committee as well as a report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) on development of various cities and districts in the state, including Amaravati. He said the government would take its decision based on recommendations of the high-level committee.

Cancellations by cabbies leave customers fuming

Customers with ride hailing platforms such as Uber and Ola have been left fuming over the seemingly arbitrary cancellations made by drivers based on drop destination. “I depend heavily on ride-hailing services for my daily commute. But lately, I have been very annoyed with cab drivers. They accept and cancel rides at will. Some accept the booking, call me to ask the destination and then cancel the ride,” said Talla Shiva, a city-based software professional.

Hyderabad: Plumber held for daily wager’s rape

Two days after a 34-year-old daily wager was raped in Godumakunta village in Keesara mandal, a 40-year-old plumber from Neredmet in Secunderabad was arrested on Friday. Keesara police inspector J Narender Goud said the accused was booked under Sections 342 and 376 of the IPC. The victim filed a complaint on Thursday.
